Dear Readers,

With the focus on Coronavirus infection and the dangers to your health that it poses, and with winter approaching, we have been seeing how the push is now on from the media, the medical association, and doctors in general for everyone, especially the elderly to get vaccinated with the Flu shot.

Indeed, many of you may have already had the influenza vaccine this year.

However, the general consensus that is being portrayed in the media and by the medical profession is that by getting the influenza vaccine, your chance of getting the flu and possibly the coronavirus infection are reduced.

However, evidence is emerging that receiving the influenza vaccine may not be very effective at firstly protecting you from the current strain of influenza, and secondly having this vaccine may in fact dramatically increase your risks of contracting coronavirus infection.

A recent study on veterans published in the journal Vaccine in January 2020 (1), looked at whether those people (veterans in this study) who received the influenza vaccine were at increased risk of developing other respiratory infections or viral infections; this is known as vaccine virus interference.

The results of this study were surprising; looking at non-influenza viruses specifically, the odds of both coronavirus and human metapneumovirus in flu-vaccinated individuals were significantly higher when compared to unvaccinated individuals (36% and 51% higher respectively).

Also, the flu vaccine given to these veterans showed varied benefit in flu prevention; some strains showed significant benefit while others did not.

Three variants of flu did not receive a statistically significant reduction in risk.

Basically, the conclusion of this study highlighted the value of the human body’s ability to fight against viruses. By actually contracting and fighting influenza, the body naturally “may reduce the risk of non-influenza respiratory viruses.”

This is an important point, and one that I will raise again in another news post shortly and is something overlooked by the fear mongering media and medical profession at the moment.

All we hear is “stay inside, run and hide” don’t go near anyone; it’s all fear, fear, fear!  Basically, we are led to believe that our best form of defence against Covid-19 is to run and hide and hope we don’t get it, because if we do get it we are doomed!  Is that the best our medical system can offer us?

I believe this is totally the WRONG approach to take and will not benefit anyone. You can’t hide forever, and you can’t and won’t avoid contracting this virus forever. Sure, those at risk –older people with other medical problems – need to be cautious and take precautions- but not all of us.

And it’s certainly not the way anyone or society can live life for long at all – and to be told that this way of life is now “normal” and will be so for months or years until we find a vaccine – is utter rubbish and extremely poor leadership by our politicians.

Our unemployment rate is and will skyrocket; our society is struggling and community mood is low. Depression is high and growing every day this goes on. The long-term health consequences of the government’s response to the so-called dangers of this virus are much worse than the virus itself- this is now obvious.

Anyway, looking again at the study and its results, it was stated that due to the flu vaccine’s “interference” with the naturally occurring biological process, there may be an increased risk of contracting non-influenza viruses:

” While influenza vaccination offers protection against influenza, natural influenza infection may reduce the risk of non-influenza respiratory viruses by providing temporary, non-specific immunity against these viruses. On the other hand, recently published studies have described the phenomenon of vaccine-associated virus interference; that is, vaccinated individuals may be at increased risk for other respiratory viruses because they do not receive the non-specific immunity associated with natural infection. “

Another study has also shown how there is an increased risk of non-influenza respiratory virus infections in children following influenza vaccination.

Published in the journal Clinical Infectious Diseases in March 2012 (2), the authors summary was as follows:

“influenza vaccine recipients had higher risk of confirmed non-influenza respiratory virus infection (RR, 3.46; 95% CI, 1.19–10.1). The majority of the non-influenza respiratory virus detections were rhinoviruses and coxsackie/echoviruses, and the increased risk among influenza vaccine recipients was also statistically significant for these viruses”.

Other studies have shown that the benefits of the flu vaccine have in fact been over-stated.

There Cochrane reviews on the effectiveness of the flu vaccine aren’t consistent with the advice that we’ve been told.

Cochrane reviews are independent systematic reviews, which are comprehensive analyses of most of the literature relevant to a research topic. Cochrane reviews summarise the results of many studies and are regularly updated to absorb new research.

In the first review (3), the infection rate in adults after having the flu vaccine, dropped from 2% per year to 1%. You could say that’s halved, but it effectively only drops by 1%.

This means that out of every 100 healthy adults vaccinated, 99 get no benefit against laboratory confirmed influenza.

The second review (4) looked at trials in children over single influenza seasons in the US, Western Europe, Russia, and Bangladesh between 1984 and 2013 – found similar results.

The third review (5), also didn’t show much benefit after having the flu vaccine. The authors concluded: “The available evidence is of poor quality and provides no guidance regarding the safety, efficacy or effectiveness of influenza vaccines for people aged 65 years or older”.

So, after reading the facts (that you haven’t been informed about by the media or medical profession) would you be now keen on having the flu vaccine?

The significant increase in your risk of getting coronavirus infection according the above-mentioned study is very concerning- yet why has the media and the medical profession ignored the facts and continued to push us all into having the flu vaccine? Makes you wonder.

It is certainly worrying what or whom to believe any more.

Keep safe.
